The Bird Specialist Master Taxidermy Studio offers individuals the opportunity to learn a one of a kind bird mounting technique. Come discover the potential of an extraordinary, proven method of bird taxidermy, taught by no one else in the Industry!
From swans to warblers your personal instructor, Master Bird Taxidermist Patrick Rummans, has the experience and expertise to show you all the tricks of the trade. His ranking as one of the World’s top bird taxidermists is well earned and you’ll find his knowledge to be invaluable. Patrick's sense of humor and ability to relate to his students makes learning with him as enjoyable as it is informative.
Students are taught from the ground up – anatomy, movement and composition being the key aspects of training. A booklet outlining feather groups and their names, anatomy, skeletal structure, composition and drawing is sent to each student prior to training. This booklet gives the student a head start in areas that will be the backbone of his/her education as a taxidermist. We’d like to remind you that YOU are the most important element in the equation of your training. Each course is tailored to your level of experience, creating the best possible learning environment for you, but your self-confidence and positive outlook will go a long way toward ensuring your success. We look forward to an opportunity to work with you!
How long should you stay?
A lot of that depends upon your current skill level and what it is you want to learn. As with all kinds of training it also depends upon how well you retain what you are taught. Everyone learns at a different rate and it’s important for you to make this decision based on personal experience. However, it’s always better to err on the side of discretion and make sure you have adequate time to learn. The recommendations below will give you an idea of what may be best for you:
Beginners - People who are literally just starting or who have mounted only a few birds - Recommended Stay: Minimum of 7 days
Moderate Experience - People who have a working knowledge of bird taxidermy but have areas of difficulty - Recommended Stay: Minimum of 5 - 7 days
Professional Taxidermists - People who are looking for fine tuning or advanced training only - Recommended Stay: Minimum of 3 - 5 days
